What Can We Create Together? Experimenting with Textures

This weekend I wanted to create a composition the was inspired by cherubs in the sky with feathers, without it been as obvious as changing the background and using AI to sit my kids on a cloud.

So I decided to play around with textures, to change the background and whole feel of the portrait.

I’m pleased with the result. I also used textures in the portraits below of my daughter, this again I wanted the effect to be subtle. It is inspired by branches of trees in the forest. I used textures from some woodland photographs I had taken when exploring with kids.

I’m really enjoying using the textures of nature to create interesting background to my portraits.

I have been working through the lectures by Heidi Sormaz in her book ‘ How to live a Yogic Lifestyle’.

I have found her lectures thought provoking and all have resonated with me. Today I have been listen to the chapter on ‘How to Love like a Yogic’ and Heidi confirmed something I have been working on for a while, that to love others you need to love yourself and allow time for your own traumas to heal. Forgive, be compassionate and respond with consideration rather than merely reacting to a situation.

Happiness is an inside job and to love others is to first love one’s self. Take time for you and to really get to know yourself. This is a daily practice and an ever changing endeavour, but it is at the route of everything we are.
